Montreal Ocular Prosthetics Inc., formerly known as Durette Ocular Prosthetics, was founded in 1977. Jean-François Durette established his business in his neighborghood of Ahuntsic. Just a few months later, needing help, his partner Louise Boucher came to lend a hand. In 1978, they moved their office, which at the time were attached to his brother's denturist office, to their current location. In 1979, they opened a branch in Quebec to serve Louise Boucher's hometown region of Lévis. They married in 1979, had children, and it was then that Louise Caouette began her training with the aim of taking over the Quebec office, where she continues to manage with her sister Céline.
Over the years, the need for succession became evident, and it was necessary to plan for transferring our expertise to continue providing our clients with professional and human service. In 2009, Joelle M. Gagnon began her training, which was paused to start a family. In January 2023, she returned to the profession and became a partner.
We use the modified impression technique.
This technique involves always taking an impression first to define the right shape and contour.
We then make a polished duplicate in acrylic and modify the shape to optimize comfort, lid symmetry and aperture.
The iris position and gaze are established.
Despite the extra important steps, we value this demanding technique to attain best outcome.
All this for you.
